US company Microsoft is to remove its professional social network LinkedIn from China. The company said it was becoming increasingly difficult and challenging to comply with Chinese policy, norms and standards, and that such a tough decision had to be made.

It is understood that this decision came after some time ago, after blocking the profiles of some journalists, inquiries were made on LinkedIn. LinkedIn has decided to release a jobs-only version of the app called Injabs later this year. But it will not include any social feeds and articles cannot be posted or shared.

LinkedIn senior vice president Mohawk Shroff wrote in his blog, “We are facing a challenging operating environment and more standardized regulations in China.” Meanwhile, LinkedIn said in a statement, “We are in the mood to show a stronger presence through the new InJubs app as we decide to remove the local version of LinkedIn from China by the end of this year.”
